Everyone has their issues in life. Just, everyone handles them differently. For me, it was alcohol and drugs. The point is that we all come from different backgrounds and childhood trauma's or the dysfunctional family. There are people who come from very functional families that still find their way to the wrong paths of life for whatever reason. Alcoholics, Drug Addicts, addictions of any kind can come from all backgrounds, environments, races, creeds and lifestyles.
They represent a cross-section of American society and include teen-agers and housewives and top business executives, slum dwellers and estate owners. There favorite beverage may scotch, gin, vodka, bourbon, wine or beer. Often they are also dependent on other drugs, such as tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or cocaine, which I was all. Please see the road into the valley and the road that leads out of the valley in the below link:
There are also other kinds of addiction such as resentment, guilt, anger, worry, and jealousy, such emotions can be a great addiction because it gives the person carrying it a feeling of power an excuse to lash out at the people they love, know, or even people they don't know without being accused of drinking or being high. You can be addicted to those emotional feelings because they make you feel like you have power. Those hidden addictions that are emotional are more dangerous for your spiritual soul as those that we share in public.
In life there are forks in the roads we travel. We choose what road we take, nobody makes that choice for us even though we would like to blame someone else for the decision we made; we are the ones who make it. The stars are constantly shining, but we cannot see them until the dark hours. Try to open your inside eyes to the daylight, you might be surprised at what you will discover. YOU can turn obstacles into opportunities.
I have wanted to do something for others for the past 15 years but was afraid. I was afraid of failing again at something. But you know what, I have discovered that we have an awesome GOD, even in times of trial HE will pull you through if you will only let HIM. Even in times of fear as the father had when he brought his son to Jesus to heal. And Jesus said to him, "If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:23-24.
This Ministry is to glorify HIM and help others in the world, and I know it will not fail. I want to show you there is hope. HOPE on the HORIZON, it is true, that is a chapter in one of my books. If you are interested in more or my writing you may purchase my book "Before It's Too Late" or if you know someone who needs it this book is written with the love and compassion that Christ has shown toward us. I hope that these will help your faith and make you strong, nothing is ever the end except death in this life, then, that is not the end:
To the left are web-sites I would like to recommend that you may go to for various types of information. Some Christian, some on Addiction. I want to be here to inspire, to encourage, and to answer any of the questions you may have. I understand the valleys on the path of life and can speak with you from first hand expirence. Who better to talk with, cry with, and grow with than someone who has been in those shoes. As we grow, we hope and pray that you will grow with us.
Figuring out addiction, the why's, why not's, how to stay away, how to feel complete without the crutch, and being able to say "NO" even under the most pressure.
When a person drowns himself in negative thinking he is committing an unspeakable crime against himself.
-- Maxwell Maltz
Negative thoughts can rule our lives as compulsively as an addiction. The feelings of power we get from holding a dismal and gloomy outlook deprive us of the positive and pleasant parts of life. Some of us have said, "If I expect the worst, I won't be disappointed. If I think the worst about myself, no one else can cut me down." It is like taking a driving trip and looking only for trash and garbage in the ditches, ignoring the beauty beyond. Indeed, what we see may be real, but it is a very limited piece of the picture. When we have relied on negative thinking, it feels risky to give it up. We cannot do it in one day. We can begin by imagining ourselves with a more open attitude toward ourselves and the world. Then we can try it out as an experiment in little ways, with no commitment. Finally we reach the point where we can take a risk and entrust our Higher Power with the outcome.
God is always ready to pour blessings into our hearts and into our lives in generous measure. However, like the seed-sowing, the ground must be prepared before the seed is dropped in. It is our task to prepare the soil. It is God's role to drop in the seed. This preparation of the soil means many days of right living, choosing the right way and avoiding the wrong. As you go along, each day you are better prepared for God's planting, until you reach the time of harvest. Then you share the harvest with God the harvest of a useful and abundant life.
There is only one way up.....When you have hit bottom....
And you are the only one that makes the choice of which way to go... up.... or stick your head in the sand and suffocate....
I look at life like the braches of a tree; we start out as a seed in the dirt. As we grow, we grow UP.... there are many paths we take throughout life. These paths are the branches, no matter which way they grow, when you go trace the branches back to the beginning; there are only two ways to go... UP...Up... and UP... or down to the ground to the bottom.
Everywhere you look is a tree, I like to keep this constant reminder in my head when I am looking around wondering which way to go, I look at a tree and see, that there is only ONE way I want to go and that is UP....
I know that God did not put us here to fail, it is the exact opposite He wants us to succeed and be happy. What He did do is give us free will to choose what we want to be... no matter what branch you are on He is the vine and you can always go UP, you may have to reach out for help, there is help out there. There are so many organizations to help you.
There are two ways to go. Which way is for you?
In life you can make your own decisions or let other people make those decisions for you. Being Above The Influence is about staying true to yourself and not letting people pressure you into being less than you. So be yourself. Or be something less. It's your call...
